There are three elements to this workshop brought to you by Maria Ryan, Bellmeadowireland.com, flower farmer and organic horticulturist from Co. Carlow.

  • Grow your Own Cut Flowers - a seasonal year in flower growing.

Maria will talk you through tasks to be done each month and also recommended varieties for the different plant groups. We talk through annuals, biennials, perennials and bulbs and how they can all be grown to help us have a truly flower filled year

  • Seed Saving and Drying Cut Flowers

You will learn how to save your own seeds, a wonderful traditional skill that every gardener should know.

Dried flowers are making a massive comeback mainly due to the innovative ways in which they are now used in flower arrangements and wreaths etc.

You will learn how to dry flowers and what type of flowers  and grasses are good for drying how best to utilise them throughout the year to help fill floral gaps

  • Seasonal Irish Cut flower Arrangement

The day will end with a demonstration on creating a simple and beautiful vase arrangement using all Irish grown cut flowers and foliage. You will also have the opportunity to create your own arrangement to take home.

Ann Marie will give a guided walk in our 1 acre walled garden. This garden is an ongoing restoration project . You can see what work is already complete, current projects and our future plans.

Tea/ Coffee with scones will be served on arrival.

A light two-course home cooked lunch with glass of Prosecco will be provided in the dining room of Coolamber House.

This workshop will be held in our renovated stables with a warm log burning fire. This space full of character will provide the perfect atmosphere to meet other people with a shared interest and swap many tips and nuggets of advice that will be helpful to all in getting started and having more success.

We really look forward to welcoming you here to Coolamber!
