When the orchard is heavy with apples, it’s the perfect time to gather, learn, taste, and make something special. Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable day with Jonathan from Scott Cider, who will guide you through the simple ways to turn your apple harvest into juice and cider you’ll be proud of.
Jonathan Scott, who is the master cider maker, is passionate about artisan cider. He decided to set-up an independent cidery to produce a truly artisan product with an authentic cider taste, after studying cider making in the cider academy in Gloucester.
Scotts Irish Cider is a delicious and beautifully blended cider with a crisp and refreshing apple taste. This sophisticated cider is handcrafted to ensure its superiority and opulence. A great alternative to wine with poultry, seafood, pork and mild cheese or to drink on its own. It is a natural product made from Irish grown apples.
We’ll start the day with a walk among the apple trees in the Walled Garden talking about apple varieties and how to know when they’re ready. Then we’ll roll up our sleeves for some hands-on pressing. You’ll learn how cider is made from start to finish, how to pasteurise juice so it keeps well, and what simple equipment you might like to have at home.
There will be plenty of time for questions, tasting and sharing stories.
A homemade lunch will be served in the dining room
You will also get the chance to press your own apples and take home your very own fresh juice.
A day to enjoy, learn, and celebrate the orchard.
