Dried Flower Garden Workshop

Step into a world of natural beauty and learn how to work with dried flowers, now seen as a more sustainable way to enjoy grown flowers within your home for many years.

We’re thrilled to have Maria from Bellmeadow Flowers leading our Dried Flower Garden Workshop. With years of experience in cultivating and creating with flowers, Maria has a remarkable talent for bringing out the beauty in each bloom. As the founder of Bellmeadow Flowers, she specialises in sustainable flower farming and is passionate about sharing her knowledge on growing and preserving flowers that retain their charm long after they’re picked. Her workshops are known for being both informative and inspiring, blending practical gardening techniques with creative floral design.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just beginning your journey with flowers, this workshop will offer you knowledge, inspiration, and memorable experiences in a truly magical setting.

 

What to expect....

10:30 AM – Welcome and Introduction

  • Guests arrive and are greeted with tea, coffee, and homemade scones to atmospheric log fire in the relaxed renovated stables.

 

11:00 AM – Cut Flower Patch Planning

  • Discussion on planning a small cut flower patch designed specifically for drying flowers.

  • Each participant receives a suggested growing plan for a large raised bed (or similar small space) along with growing instructions and seeds for popular flowers ideal for drying, such as strawflowers, gomphrena, and statice.

  • Tips on choosing easy-to-grow varieties and planning for successive blooms.

 

12.00 – Flower Drying Techniques

  • Demonstration of flower drying methods, showcasing your setup and storage techniques.

  • Discussion on DIY drying setups and equipment, with recommended resources for further learning.

  • Guidance on preserving color and texture in dried flowers.

 

1 PM–Two course  home-cooked Lunch 

Indulge in a delicious, home-cooked lunch served in the dining room of Coolamber House. This beautifully restored period room, with its long table and elegant details, offers the perfect setting for a leisurely meal and good conversation. Enjoy home cooked  dishes made with fresh, local ingredients, and raise a glass of cava to celebrate the day

2PM– Glass Dome Creation with Dried Flowers

  • Hands-on activity: design and create a floral display within a glass dome.

  • Introduction to using air-drying clay as a base for the arrangement; participants choose their own color schemes and flower types for a personalised piece.

  • Participants begin assembling their designs with guidance

3PM – Guided  Walled Garden Tour 

  • Explore both the productive Walled Garden and the reflective Walled Garden 

  • Discover the variety of flowers, herbs, and plants, gaining inspiration for your own garden.

  • Included we will show you around the  Orangery, Gardeners Cottage, and other historic outbuildings.

Not only will you leave this workshop more knowledgeable and inspired, but you’ll also go home with a beautiful collection of items to continue your dried flower journey. Each participant will take home their own exquisite glass dome floral arrangement, a detailed planting plan, seeds to start their very own flower patch, and—most importantly—a newfound confidence to grow, dry, and create with flowers.

This workshop is designed to equip you with everything you need to bring the beauty of dried flowers into your own life, along with memories of a truly relaxing day in Coolamber.
