A DAHLIA DAY WORKSHOP

Dahlias are having a major  resurgence among cut flower growers and florists. Home Gardeners and flower farmers are sure to have some dahlias but with the wide range of options it can be overwhelming to whittle it down to the best dahlias for your garden.



Why not join us in Coolamber House to learn from Irelands most foremost Dahlia grower Christopher White.  Christopher specialises in exhibition dahlias and garden varieties. He is an award winning grower and floral designer.

Christopher White, who runs Three Gates Garden Centre and Nursery in The Naul, is no stranger to success. Over the past decade, he was won an astonishing 10 medals at Chelsea Flower Show in UK

In 2021 he was awarded Gold for a dahlia flower named in honour of Christopher’s father, Louis White.Christopher designed the Presidents Garden in the Phoenix Park where there is a bed of 'Aggie White' growing. A Dahlia that was named after Christophers Mother. He is also a National Dahlia Judge.

Tea/ Coffee and scones on arrival. Everyone will meet in the renovated stables to a warm log fire. 

​

Christopher who grows 1000’s of Dahlias will share his knowledge. You will learn about the different types of Dahlias. How to  grow, cultivate  and how to look after them. Tips for getting more flowers and how to dig up and keep safe for next season. This practical workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced gardeners. It's particularly suitable for people who find it difficult to choose.

There will be a catalogue of Dahlias to view on the day.

A home cooked lunch will be served in the period dining room of Coolamber House  at 1pm followed by tea/coffee and plenty of home made cake.


After lunch Ann Marie Durkin will give  a guided walk of the Walled Garden, gardeners cottage and glasshouse including a the pool garden that is currently being designed.

There will be a catalogue of Dahlias to view on the day.

Everyone will leave much more informed confident and with an armful of beautiful Dahilas to take home.
