HOMESTEADING WORKSHOP

10.30am to 4.00pm

Join us for a full day workshop on Homesteading.
Martin and Bianca Gardener who are based in Roscommon, Ireland will be here to share their knowledge. Their goal is to transition from a consumer lifestyle to a producer lifestyle.
Homesteading is a term for a "lifestyle of self-sufficiency". The traditional approach to homesteading means living self-sufficiently and sustainably.
However it doesn't have to be an all or nothing lifestyle choice. You may have a goal of residing on a few acres and living an idyllic lifestyle or you may want to deepen your connection to nature and eat healthier locally produced products.
Homesteading is all about being resourceful.
At this workshop you will learn the basics about growing & preserving food, chicken keeping, herbal remedies, backup power & lights and home brewing. Suitable for Beginners & Advanced
It will be a very informative day where each of the following topics will be discussed:
Growing Food using No Dig Gardening
Food Preserving – Canning, Storing and Cheese Waxing
Keeping Chickens for Egg Production
Home & Herbal Remedies
Backup Power – Solar, Generator, Batteries and Lights
Home Brewing – Beer, Cider & Country Wines
This workshop will take place in both the renovated stables and the Walled Garden
Tea/Coffee and scones will be available on arrival and a two course home-cooked lunch will be included in the dining room at 1pm.
