SPRING FLORAL  - ECO FRIENDLY ARRANGEMENT AND SUCESS WITH SUMMER SOWN SEEDLINGS

Saturday 13th April 2024
10.30am to 3.30pm
€120

Amelia Raben, an Eco Flower Grower and Floral Artist from Amelia’s Garden Flowers will be here in Coolamber to guide you (using spring eco-floristry techniques) in making a seasonal table arrangement which you will be taking home. Amelia will also have you dreaming of summer and will talk about some of her favourite flowers to grow for cutting. Nothing beats a vase of fresh cut flowers except perhaps a vase from your own garden.

After a welcome cup Tea/ Coffee and scones the workshop will start in the renovated stables where Amelia will discuss some of her favourite flowers for cutting and some easy flowers to start out with.

If you ever wanted to grow your own small cut flower patch, growing annual flowers is a great way to begin.

In the Potting Shed Amelia will show you the basics of seed sowing, pricking out and potting on. This element will be hands-on. Everyone will learn how to sow and to prick out seedlings and will go home with some little seedlings which will grow into beautiful flowers this summer.

At 1pm  you will get to relax further and enjoy a Kir Cocktail made using our own Homemade Coolamber Cassis, you will also be treated to a delicious home cooked two course lunch served in the dining room of Coolamber House.

After dinner, everyone will be brought on a guided walk of our 1 acre Walled Garden with Ann Marie Durkin. This will include a tour of the Orchard, Kitchen garden, Fruit and Berry Garden including our newly designed Glasshouse, Gardeners Cottage and Potting Shed.

After you've walked off lunch you will have the opportunity to create a beautiful table centrepiece using a mix of gorgeous Irish spring flowers and foliage. Everything will be grown in Ireland and the arrangement will be made using eco-floristry techniques.  Conditioning, arranging techniques and the importance of seasonality will be discussed.

After a demonstration by Amelia, everyone will have an opportunity to unleash their creativity and create their own floral masterpiece to take home (as we will be making a bowl arrangement, it might be useful to bring a box or something similar to take it home in).

The beauty and importance of using 'grown not flown' blooms will be evident in the arrangements. All flowers, foliage and vases will be provided and it is suitable for beginners. Above all, it is meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Booking is essential and places are strictly limited.

We look forward to welcoming you to Coolamber.
